1. Shape of the Universe : Some scientists are of the view that our
universe is shaped like a trumpet horn similar to Effil Tower rather than like
a football. As per Jainism the universe is shaped like a man standing with his
feet apart. That is quite similar to the proposed shape.

2. Chocolate and Karmas : The desire for eating chocolate is controlled
by bacteria in the stomach while we think we desire it. Jainism also states
that desire are controlled by karmas ( in a practical sense)

3. Rain Cloud is mostly made of bacteria
: In Jainism these are known as Jalakayika Jivas i.e whose body is that of
water. In fact in single drop of water infinite Jivas are supposed to be
present.

4. Plants Can learn : have memories :
Plants are Vanaspatikayik Jivas as per Jainism which have only single sense of
touch and no mind ( which is called anindriya ). The mind assists five sensed
Jivas in analyzing the observation of five senses which is known as Sruta Gyan.
The plants without mind still have Sruta Gyan , which they use for taking
decisions. The news clipping confirms the same.

5. Microbes Thrive in Earth’s deepest spot :
Highly active bacteria is seen to thrive at 36000 feet under the sea at a
pressure of 1100 times the sea level. It was considered to be too hostile for
life forms to exist. Another possible example of Jalakayik Jivas.

6. Microbes in sea weigh as much as 240
billion elephants : This just goes to show the amount of life forms
existing in the sea. Jain scriptures say that the number of ekendriya single
sensed jivas is infinite. It may be worthwhile to recall that the total life
span in 2 and higher sensed jivas is 2000 sagar , after which jivas may spend
infinite years in these life states.

7. Black Holes are a passage to another
universe : Compare this with the description of Tamaskaya in Jain
scriptures ( see Jainism : a Scientific look) where in there are dark channels
extended within the universe , in which the lower order Devas may get lost due
to darkness. Higher order Devas help them to come out of it.

8. How plants know when to flower ? : Another confirmation that the plants also
have knowledge. If it were just one sensed knowledge then the flowering would
have been random and haphazard. Jainism attributes Mati and Sruta gyans both to
them even though they do not have mind. This goes to show that knowledge is
inherent characteristic of Jivas and is not dependent upon others.

9. Free will ? It may be brain tricking itself
: This is a beautiful revelation
that we believe that we have taken a conscious decision based on freewill but
really it is already taken for us. The karma theory of Jains tells us that even
the thoughts of anger, greed, deceit, pride are generated out of the fruitation
of past karmas. Jiva in reality is not responsible for these acts but he
believes in his ignorance that he is responsible for these acts.

10. Total DNA on
earth counted : 50 tn tn tn : This approximate
figure represents the amount which has been acknowledged as possible life forms
on our earth. In Jain scripture even a small piece of potato has innumebrable
bodies in which infinite Jivas take birth and die together. The other single
sensed jivas are also innumberable of very high order. Even then it definitely appears that science
is realising the vast magnitude of life forms on this earth.

We are immortals : Several proofs of reincarnation are available
in the scientific literature. Here is one of them where memories of thousand
years is revealed going back to another life.

Bacteria Makes Gold : While numerous examples may be seen of
Jalakayik and Vayukayika jivas, this is one glittering example of possible
Prithvikayik Jivas , whose body is earth. Gold , diamond etc are said to be
prithvikayik jivas in Jain scripture, in
the unmined state. Here we find bacteria which itself becomes gold.

13. Elusive Truth : It is an established truth
that science has not resolved many of the mysteries of the universe. It has
kept on contradicting itself in many fields. As per Jainism, the total
knowledge exists and omniscient knows all. However for that he has to look
inside the soul and find that internal knowledge. On the other hand science
does not acknowledge existence of the soul itself.

Daily Showers can be a bad idea : Study has shown that high diversity of
Microbes live upon human skin which have antibiotic resistance. Taking showers
kill them and affects our immune system. Jain Muni do not take bath for the protecting the various jivas living upon the
body. This study confirms the same and at the same time establishes that it may
be healthier in the process.

Cancer may strike due to bad luck not life
style
Here cause of cancer is attributed to dna
copying error prior to birth itself. One wonders , who made the copying mistake
? In Jainism there is a karma called Nam Karma which predefines the attributes
of the body of the soul , like bone structure, voice quality, size shape and so
on. Sata and Asata Vedaniya karmas define the karmas which control the factors
responsible for happiness or unhappiness. So what may be called as copying
error is in reality a predestined fate depending upon the karmas bound with the
soul.
16. How meat eating is destroying Himalayas :
There are quite a few people who think that humans are meat eater naturally and meat is essential for proteins. They think that earth cannot produce enough vegetables for all humans. This article refutes this thinking and shows that for eating meat you need to produce more animals who themselves require more vegetation to survive.

17. Alien bugs may have hitched a ride to Earth
on space dust:
Another example of the existence of one sensed Ekendriya Jiva. The space dust could very well be Prithvikayik, Agnrikayik, Vayukayik Jivas. We have to realise that these Jivas are coming from space where extreme harsh environment of high /low temperatures and vacuum are experienced and it is not possible for two sensed and above jivas ( vikalendriya) to survive but it is quite possible for Sthavar jivas. It also establishes that Jivas themselves are immune to harsh environment, but it is the bodies which decide upon the longevity and survivability.

18. World of Microscopic Jivas
Another confirmation of the large number of Microscopic animals living in our own earth. As
per Jainism the Ekendriya or one sensed animals are of five types Prithvikayik, Jalakayik, Agnikayik, Vayukayik and Vanaspatikayik which are one sensed jivas having bodies of the form of earth, water, fire, air and vegetables. These are microscopic and invisible to eyes. The number of such Jivas are innumerable which is a very huge quantity.(Please see the article on Numbers). Another important thing is that they are quite immune to environmental conditions like heat, cold etc.
